Professional highlights: Dr. Wu is a board-certified dermatologist with extensive training in adult and pediatric skin diseases as well as surgical,
laser, and cosmetic procedures. Prior to joining the Alaska Center for Dermatology in August 2010, she served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years, most recently as Chief of Dermatology at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska from July 2007 to July 2010.
Personal history: Dr. Wu was born in Annapolis, Maryland and attained her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland at College Park and her Master’s degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. She dedicated the next several years to basic research in molecular biology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland and at the Genetics & IVF Institute in Fairfax, Virginia before entering medical school at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Maine. Dr. Wu then performed an internship at Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews AFB, Maryland, followed by a three year tour as a Flight Surgeon stationed at Dover AFB, Delaware. After this, she completed her dermatology residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. In her free time Dr. Wu enjoys running, biking, photography, and spending time with her husband and young son.
Community/professional involvement: Dr. Wu is a fellow of the
American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the
Dermatology Foundation Leaders’ Society and the
Alaska State Medical Association.
